ELASTICISMO... happy birthday! |

In these days the ELASTICISMO as Nou Surrealime Pitiús celebrated its First Birthday. In the framework of the Mostra de Creativitat, the festivities took place in the first October week in the octagonal hall of the former fish market of Down-Town-Ibiza. There is enough reason to celebrate: not only locally the ELASTICISMO was successful. There was a diversified positive resonance, even some thanks letters of leading institutions and museums for the MANIFEST 2007 in form of a short film. The presence of VENUS 2008 (H.E.Dunckel) at the EXPO-Zaragoza was acclaimed with entusiasm. An exhibition of Pepe Tauste in the Gallery VIA2 recorded an overpowering visitor rush. The official program started in the afternoon of October 2nd in the framework of the Mostra de Creativitat and culminated on Saturdaythe 4th with the first “Noche Blanca” (night of the museums) in Ibiza. However, already from Monday, September 29th, all activities elasticated themselfes during the course of the work. The installation of a selection of elastograms, elastographies and elastotypes, with the participation of several artists close to the surrealist circle, including the visitors Ana Jakimow (performance) Andrea Englaender (objeto luminoso) Claudia Scharapenko (fotografía) Inés Sarmiento (performance) Lina Andiñach (performance) Teresa Martínez (video-instalación) Carlos Negre (retratos)The main focus of our elastoflexions gave form to the topic: GOLD. Pepe Tauste, as co-founder of the Nou Surrealisme Pitiús, performed some elastograms, in honor of one of the great pioneers of pre-elasticismo: Charly Chaplin. An elastic orientation on his master work "Gold-Rush" couldn't be overlooked. Quaint scenes of this film found their resurrection in the old fish market hall. Holger E. Dunckel elastovisated an anecdote of another great pre-elasticismo artist: Salvador Dalí. It deals with a Dalí-Quotation in a french newspaper and relates how Lenin promised golden urinals to the Russian people at that time; and those were tranformed by a translation mistake into golden chamber pots. - To admire as "Prototype Lenin" and "Modelo Rockefeller." In further works, as "Los 3 Monos" (the 3 monkeys) or "Einstein demands Elasticismo", some communication problems were mentioned: the monkeys "DON'T CRY - DON'T LAUGHT - DON'T PARTICIPATE" ... for example. In a time stucked with "HYPES" and "FAKES" in the world of arts, the latest formulas of the ELASTICISMO offer an enormous help, as much for museums, as to galerists or art-collectors, converting their financial investments, proportionated in that new way, in a plural and cultural future for the entire mankind. EL DORADO … and the ELASTICISMO It usually passes that the birth of a work of art is as mysterious as the genesis of the same universe. - In the case of "El Dorado" it has been without any doubt this way. I remember to have listened in my childhood that the Russian politician Lenin projected to distribute urinals of gold to the people. It has been a very received joke during my childhood, in a Germany totally destroyed by the bombings of the Americans. Until than many households of a capital as Hamburg have been condemned, for the delays that bore the war, to use latrines located in the basements of the houses. There people left surpluses in some containers called “Gold-Eimer” (golden cube) - and this maybe caused by Lenin's promises. Now, recently, a copy of the "Gaceta Ilustrada" (Nº 919) of May of 1974, fell into my hands, dedicating several pages to Salvador Dalí, for having sold a surrealist work on the highest price until then (for 245.000,- Dollar). In this story Dali revealed an experience that he had in Paris. In a newspaper of Mendès-France they published an anecdote about Lenin in the Easter-Week where he mentioned: Once Lenin said (and this is something that very few people know): "The day when we will have the power we will build public urinals of gold." They comented: "We print this amusing anecdote because it is of Dali's style. But Lenin never said anything like this." And three days later Krustschev arrived in Paris. He went to the Rue of the Tombe-Issoire, where Lenin once lived, leaned out of the balcony and said: "I hope that some day we will be able to materialize our comrade Lenin's dream: to build urinals of gold." The following day, Mendés-France called Dalí explaining: "We should apologize. You were right, although we didn't know it. You know more about the Marxism than all of us." Although this story seems to be simple, in fact it is involved in some Babylonian circumstances. Interviewing a great German sanitary professional (71 years old), and with knowledge in the matter since his childhood in his father's company, he comments that Lenin referred to the urinals of that time. Only the richest Russian had resources for porcelain pieces, and the one that didn't want to urinate in middle of the street (talking about the beginning of the 20th century) found at service urinals of zinc or enameled (called in German: Urinales). Then a Russian historian explained: in these times the government made enormous efforts in improving the public health, mainly in the big cities (just as in Spain). She is convinced that Lenin spoke of the conduits of half cane installed in the public toilets, and she added that the Russian word for these, easily can be translated to "Urinal" in German. We can conclude: As almost all the translations of Russian texts arrived to Spain through Germany, the "Urinal" (russian/german) was transformed in "orinal" (german/spanish), ignoring distinctions regarding forms and benefits, only changing "u" into "o", the original piece was converted by Dalí in "chamber-pot". Now: By error in the translation the people of this island have been elected to be witnesses of the birth of one of the most important works of art in the human history: EL DORADO. The warning of the wise old men until the 80th – For very little money any fool makes you any foolishness - became Regulation Nº 1 during the same decade. This supreme principle of traditional Jewish philosophy, and base of the Marxism, took easily possession of some simple minds, that had even not the smallest possibility of comparing their intentions and facts on a professional level with other experiences. From then on nearly everything is suffering widespread disproportions, because any fool can make any foolishness to get his own "El Dorado". Each and everyone - forgetting completely that it is only a kind of cup, where the corporal surpluses finish after digestion. This way by mistake, and through an apparently simple work of art, but with high spiritual dimensions, now in Ibiza rises a new possibility of synchronizing the balance between ethics and aesthetics. Nobody can oppose continually to the universal laws without suffering damages and disadvantages, because these laws have their own dynamics. Any opposition to these dynamics causes decelerations, wasting in our days unrecoverable moments of ELASTICISMO. |
